NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: TOWANDA PULLS AWAY FROM SAYRE IN SECOND HALF TO WIN CONSOLATION GAME OF VALLEY CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT

SAYRE — Towanda used a 13-2 run that bridged the final two quarters en route to a 63-45 win over Sayre here Wednesday afternoon in the consolation game of the boys Valley Christmas Tournament.
Luke Tama scored nine points and Nick Innocenzo added five points to help Towanda to a 16-15 lead after the first quarter. Chris Ray scored five points for Sayre and Marcus Bauman added four.
Michael Shaw buried a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter for the Redskins, who kept the deficit at one point at the half, missing out on an opportunity to take the lead by making just 2 of 6 free-throw attempts.
With the score tied at 30-30 midway through the third quarter, Innocenzo and Shane Martin scored five points apiece as the Black Knights pushed ahead 43-32 early in the fourth quarter.
The Redskins never got closer than nine points the final 6 1/2 minutes of the game.
Marcus Bauman’s 3-pointer with 2 1/2 minutes left in the game pulled the Redskins within 10 points, at 55-45, but Towanda scored the final eight points of the game.
Ray led Sayre with nine points and three rebounds, while Jordan Rockwell scored seven points and dished out six assists, Bauman had seven points and five rebounds, and Shaw added six points.
Ryan Murrelle had five points and three rebounds for the Redskins, Noah Ackley chipped in with four points, Nate sweet hauled down eight rebounds and dished out five assists, Patrick McConnell grabbed six boards.
Innocenzo led Towanda with 20 points, including three 3-pointers, while Martin scored 15 points and Tama added 11.
